This function is <formula> defined by "<formula> is the smallest integer m, such that m! is divisible by n", and it is in relationship with the study of prime numbers, because of the following property: "If p is a number greater than 4, then p is prime if and only if <formula>". It is studied by Florentin Smarandache, a Romanian emigrated to the United States. The book contains four papers of Smarandache about some properties of this function and its applications, as well as unsolved problems concerning it. The editor encourages the readers to submit manuscripts concerning this function and/or its properties, relations, applications etc.
